Mang Doel
It was my final culinary tour in Cirebon. Me and my family decided to went to Nasi Jamblang Mang Doel. Its located beside Grage Mall exactly at Cipto Street. It had been known well since a long time. If you wanted to eat Nasi Jamblang you must try this. Mang Doel Opened everyday from morning until night. When we came to Mang Doel, it was only little buyer. Usually Mang Doel always crowded with a lot of people who wanted to eat Nasi Jamblang. I ordered Nasi Jambal with fried sambal, tempe, and berkedel. If you wanted different menus, you could took a lot of menus. In Nasi Jamblang rice was different with another rice because it was covered by teak leaves and made the rice more tasteful, durable, and the smell change like teak leaves.
The history of Nasi Jamblang was started when Hindia Goverment under Deandels made a road from Anyer to Panarukan. When the worker past Cirebon, someone had an idea to cover the rice by teak leafs. Before the rice covered by teak leaves, it was covered by banana leaves and it made the rice was not durable to use for workers and made the rice became stale. But, if the rice was covered by teak leafs the rice became tasty and durable for a long time.
In Cirebon there were many Nasi Jamblang seller, but only Mang Doel had a original taste and matching with the price. I only paid Rp. 10.000 for those menus with two portion of rice. I recommend you to try Nasi Jamblang Mang Doel if you visit Cirebon.

My Nasi Jamblang

Nasi Lengko? Maybe you only knew nasi kuning or nasi uduk because we could find these foods in many cities. But, Cirebon had a different food from nasi kuning or nasi uduk we (Cirebon People) had something different and its called 'Nasi Lengko'. Nasi lengko was a traditional food that made from rice, tempe, tahu, nut sauce, chives, bean sprouts, fried onion, also ketchup and you can add some sambal and crackers. It's a healthy food with less of cholesterol. In this article i would tell to you about Nasi Lengko on Mang Haji Barno that located on Pagongan, Pekalipan, Cirebon.
Me and my friends decided to ate in there because Mang Haji Barno served a different Nasi Lengko than the others. What things made different? First, how Mang Haji Barno Fried tahu and tempe. He doesn't add salt. Next, his special recipe for nuts sauce. The sauce was harsh maybe because the nuts only mashed by 'ulekan' not by blender and also the fusion of spice and made its different with another Nasi Lengko in Cirebon. On Mang Haji Barno, we could also order beef satay. The satay had big slices and tender meat and made your Nasi Lengko special if you order Mang Barno Satay. With a portion of satay and a portion of Nasi Lengko, you only paid Rp. 20.000
After we finish our Nasi Lengko we went home again. See you in the final culinary tour on part 5. I would tell you about a legend culinary in Cirebon that was Nasi Jamblang.

Ya, Because this food was one of the traditional food from Cirebon and you would not find this food in another city. In the night of my third day of my holiday, Me and my family decided to went to Kesambi. We would ate docang in there. You could reach Kesambi about 30 minutes from my house in Sumber. After we arrived, we requested four portion for me, my father, my mother and also my brother. The history of Docang came from Wali Songo's left food when they ate. The rest was bean sprouts and cassava. And the bean sprouts and cassava reprocessed and became to Docang. And the name of Docang was came from 'kacang dibodo' or 'dibacem'. Docang was filled by lontong, cassava leafs, bean sprouts, and flushed by 'dage' and 'terasi' sauce with crackers (kerupuk). You could add some sambal and requested another crackers for your docang. One portion of this food only Rp. 6.000 that was very cheap for a healthy and delicious food!

In the second day of my holiday, when i got up from my bedroom i found kerupuk melarat with sambal. Maybe you didn't know about kerupuk melarat and why its named k
Kerupuk Melarat with Sambal
erupuk melarat? Okey, first i would tell to you what kerupuk melarat was. Kerupuk melarat is one of the traditional food from cirebon. Kerupuk melarat is served by adding sour sauce. This food usually eaten in the dry season, in addition to increasing appetite can also raise morale. Tapioca flour was the basic material, with a inregular shape  and variety of colors, including pink, yellow, white, and green. This color also made from safe food coloring. Melarat in Cirebonese means poor. Because according to the history of this food, a long time ago this food only consumed by poor people in Cirebon because the price was cheap. But now, this food was consumed by all people not only poor people also reach people. This food wasn't cooked by fried cooking oil, but the wear of sand that has been cleaned first, which through the process of drying and screening. We knew as 'sangrai'. You didn't need to make your kerupuk melarat. You could buy this food in the traditional market. But you must make your own sambal.
In this morning, my mother cooked for me delicious 'sambal dage' for my kerupuk melarat. With a cup of coffe, i enjoyed my second morning in this holiday. See you in the next my coulinary tour :)

Hey everyone, in my last holiday i chose to make a resume about Cirebon's culinary. Why i chose that? because Cirebon had a lot of delicious traditional foods such as Empal Gentong, Nasi Lengko, Docang, Kerupuk Melarat with Sambal, and many more. In this part, i started with Empal Gentong. A lot of cadgers or stands sold Empal Gentong in Cirebon, but only Empal Gentong Mang Darma which had good reputation because its taste. Empal Gentong Mang Darma was located in Kerucuk, Cirebon. You could go to that place with angkot GS and after that you must take angkot D6. It would take maybe around 30 minutes. But, i didn't go to Empal Gentong Mang Darma with angkot, i went with my family.

When i arrived in there, there were a lot of people who would bought Empal Gentong. Not only people from Cirebon, but also people from Jakarta, Banten, Lampung, and many more. I could know that from their drive plates numbers. My father said that Empal Gentong Mang Darma had been famous since my father was a paper news seller and that place always crowded with buyer everyday. When we saw there were free chairs we sat and requested Empal Gentong only with beef. Oh ya, i forgot to tell you that Empal Gentong was cooked with firewood (mango tree) in barrel from clay filled with meat, or cow's organ such as lung, and intestine. Empal Gentong was come from Desa Tengah Tani, Cirebon. This food also served with chives, condiment from dried chili, and also rice or lontong. When our empal gentong was arrived on the table we ate directly. I finished my delicious Empal Gentong only 10 minutes. After that, i drank a glass of tea. Oh ya, if you buy food in Cirebon you will drank a free glass of tea without sugar. This one was a tradition. I don't know what tradition. its like tradition from javanese pople but without sugar. Finally we finished all our food and drinks. So, i went to the cashier and payed for our foods. One cup Empal Gentong with rice on Mang Darma only Rp. 15.000 that was cheap for a delicious food.

I recommend you if you visit Cirebon you must try this food because if you don't try this food you're not visit cirebon although you visit Cirebon. Ya, finally i finish my first article in this holiday. Don't forget to read another my Cirebon culinary article oke?

Sudah beribu darah kau tumpahkan
Tak pernah kau peduli
Untuk mencapai impian
Demi anak cucu negeri

Walaupun ditodong moncong senapan
Diterjang dentuman meriam
Seolah tak takut lawan
Untuk Pergi dari kelam

Tak pernah bergeming
Berdiri dengan gagah
Terus maju tanpa berpaling
Walaupun harus menelan lelah

Teriakan bergema...
Mengalahkan riuh tangisan
"Indonesia Merdeka!"
Begitu yang mereka katakan

Namun, mereka yang penuh jasa ini
seolah mulai terlupakan
Kemanakah hai kau pemuda kalian ini?
Mengenang sejarahnya saja malas-malasan?

Sunguh mereka menangis!
Mengais menatap nasib negeri
Maukah kalian berbaris?
Mencipta negeri yang mereka impi
